Archive: Work on Paper

There are some elemments and aspects of my art practice that form an abiding presence in my almost 30 year practice.  Perhaps the main one is drawing on paper.

My preference is for light Asian type papers... they seem more "alive" to me and bring more presence as a visual element.  They also allow me to play with their transluscence and make drawings that are stacks of gossimer pages (Book Portraits and Unauthorized Heart); and make others that are drawn on both sides (Dream Spaces and Rivers of my Childhood).

The last works are photograph series.  I have had a photography practice for a long time and occasionally they make their way into my portfolio.  This is pretty rare though -- I can't stay away from my paper for too long.
