Too Late

A series of 6 modified porcelain bird figurines from the 1980s “Vanished Species” series produced by Aldon to commemorate extinct bird species. Each little figurine is wrapped in cotton batting and enclosed in a plaster cast.  Shining a light on the absurdity of commemorating a species after it’s gone instead of acting when it might make a difference, these inanimate birds are carefully tended to as if they could heal and return to us.

All of the “collectible” paraphenalia is included (box, brochures, tags and stands) and augmented with my “Too Late” additions. Each bird and stand has been signed and dated by me next to the original edition markings and a tiny “Too Late” brass plaque is added to the original plaque on the stands.

Dimensions are variable, but approximately 6 x 5 x 5 inches each.
